This remodel for the Fargo Police Department relocates existing departments from the Downtown Police Station to the renovated Border States Electric building in order to help alleviate some of the space shortages at the facility. Spaces designed include open-plan office for Sergeants, Lieutenants, and Patrol Officers; Private Deputy Chief Office; a large briefing room; men’s and women’s locker rooms with shower facilities; and a fitness gym. The former warehouse was converted to enclosed parking for patrol vehicles, providing all-weather protection for sensitive electronics in the vehicles. Also included, was the investigation of reuse of existing modular furnishings vs. new modular furnishings. This project is an example of our design team’s recent familiarity with the variety of functions and related spaces required for a well-functioning Police Department. It highlights our experience with areas likely to require future growth and demonstrates our ability to create multiple solutions from the same program. This gives users the flexibility to select and prioritize the solutions that work best for their specific method of operation.
