The linear design for the new Scenic Park facility offers an amazing view of the Missouri River and skyline of downtown Sioux City. The interior space houses an aquatics center, wellness center, youth center, child-watch area, and administrative offices. Large windows provide natural daylight throughout most of the building with clerestory windows in the corridors. The exterior was constructed with tilt-up concrete, pre-finished metal panels, cultured stone, and brick. With the replacement of the deteriorated 120-year old existing facility, the Y almost doubled its membership within the first three days of operation. Not only does the Y serve the general public in the tri-state area, the local high school and community college utilize the swimming and fitness areas for competitions, training, and physical education programs.
