Juan is a native of Pereira, Risaralda, Colombia. His parents were born and raised in Colombia and still live there. His father is an architect as well as the appointed government official who approves construction licenses in Pereira. His mother is a system engineer, working for three different offices, aiding them with software that tracks construction licensing. His brother is a civil engineer currently working in Colorado. Juan has one year of intern architectural experience in Colombia.
Juan spends most of his free time rock climbing, mostly in climbing gyms since Sioux Falls is lacking mountains. He fulfills his passion by climbing rock formations in the Black Hills.
