CONTROLLER // BUSINESS MANAGER

 

We have an immediate opening for a highly self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with impeccable time-management skills, to direct all financial activities and functions for a multi-location architectural firm. This position is responsible for the overall operations of Accounting & Finance reporting directly to the company Chief Operating Officer. This position is also responsible for managing a variety of office administrative support activities, basic human resources activities, and identifying solutions for process inefficiencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform monthly accounting close process, ensuring accurate records across all locations.

  • Perform necessary organizational and data entry functions related to accounting, operations, and human resources.

  • Prepare workpapers supporting monthly close and month-end balances.

  • Generate financial and supplementary reports for ownership on a monthly basis.

  • Manage cash, bank reconciliations, and banking relationships.

  • Enhance accounting system and reporting capabilities.

  • Oversee annual financial statement preparation and income tax preparation with external CPA firm.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement financial reporting, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement initiatives.

  • Process accounts payable and receivable and client invoices.

  • Handle multi-state sales tax reporting and bank deposits.

  • Assist with Federal fee proposals and duties related to payroll.

  • Coordinate and manage benefits administration, special projects, and other requests.

  • Maintain employee records and company handbook/policies.

  • Responsible for day-to-day HR functions, including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, benefits, and employee relations.

  • Ensure HR policies and practices are adhered to and align with firm values and organizational objectives.

  • Assist employees with all HR aspects, develop partnerships with key stakeholders in the business unit, analyze HR data to identify trends, and report findings to senior management.

  • Manage relationships with partners, staff, and vendors.

  • Manage ERP software (Core) and provide assistance to others.

  • Participate in professional organizations to stay current on industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Business or Accounting.

  • 5-7 years’ experience managing an accounting department.

  • Strong analytical skills and auditing skills, with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts.

  • Highly effective in managing cash flow, invoicing, collection, G/L, A/P and Payroll

  • Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.

  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and others to maximize performance and results.

  •  Technologically savvy with the ability to manage and manipulate data for financial reporting quickly and effectively.

  • Detailed, organized, and communicative.

  • Strong Computer Skills, knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of BQE Core platform is a plus.
