Fred Wagar has had a long military career and a passion to assist Veterans with badly needed services. Wagar began his military career in 1975, serving as a combat engineer in the North Dakota National Guard until 1983. He took a seven-year hiatus until 1990 when he joined the Army.

Wagar had numerous deployments to the Middle East serving as an Arabic linguist/interrogator. After being discharged from the Army in 1998, he joined the Sioux Falls, SD Army Reserves. He was also active in the city’s Disabled American Veterans (DAV) National Service. This experience led him to being appointed as Supervisor of the DAV National Office in Reno, NV.

Wagar has been diligent about assisting Veterans and co-founded the Northern Nevada Wheelchair Program. This program provides free mobility equipment to Veterans and their dependents. Wagar, the Deputy Director of Operations for the Nevada Dept. of Veterans Services, is a life-time member of the DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion.
