FARMINGTON AREA VETERANS MEMORIAL

The striking focal point of this memorial is a bronze statue of a soldier saluting fallen Veterans. A granite display stands before the statue that lists 16 Farmington area Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Afghanistan. At the top of this monument is a 10-foot-wide by 5-foot-high folded flag replica created out of granite.

One of many granite pillars here displays a black and white etched photo and engraved names of Farmington’s five Nelson siblings who served in WWII. A poem was engraved in a wall that honors all sailors, airmen, marines and soldiers.

A large pillar was created out of Mesabi black granite quarry from northern Minnesota. It displays four famous quotes by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.

Dedicated in 2014, this memorial also features engraved memorial rocks in memory of Veterans from their family and friends and a large rock engraved with the Pledge of Allegiance.
