LAKELAND VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK

This Veterans Memorial lies beside beautiful Lake Beulah, with lily pads dotting the surface. Sitting benches are positioned under cypress trees and along a garden filled with roses bushes. Various statues and monuments can be found throughout the park, and each focuses on the service different groups gave to the country and/or their community. Veterans of various wars, Prisoners of War, Law Enforcement, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services of Polk County who have lost their lives in service are honored with the several different monuments.

Within the park is a pedestal with bronze boots, gun, helmet and tags; a large, marble pedestal with the statue of a Confederate Soldier; a plaque about “The Great War”; a display of military branch symbols and several art sculptures. In 2021, a monument honoring the county’s WWII African American soldiers was dedicated. It honors those who served in combat or non-combat service time.
