“I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” This verse is engraved on one of the several pillars at the Veterans Memorial in Rock Rapids. This memorial honors all branches of service dedicated to the men and women that served in the military.

Also known as the City of Murals, this small town also hosts almost 30 impressive murals painted on the exterior of buildings. There are paintings of a cattle buyer, skating rink, ladies of the night, country vet, popcorn wagon and the flood of 2014 that destroyed part of the city. Another interesting aspect of this town is the Island Park, appropriately called as it’s surrounded by the Rock River. A railroad trestle was resurfaced into a recreation trail and the nearby train depot was transformed into a museum.
