SIOUXLAND FREEDOM PARK
S. SIOUX CITY, NE

This park that honors our Veterans in their memory, hosts the only half-scale replica wall of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The original “wall” in our Capital is made of two identical walls, are just over 246 feet long each. This replica in Sioux City was created from the same granite brought from India and is just over 250 feet long.

The wall includes names of 58,272 fallen veterans from the Vietnam War - 130 of those names are soldiers from the Siouxland area covering particular parts of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Towering over the park at 150 feet above is a 60’X30’ flag of Old Glory and no, that is not a typo. This flag has a square footage of 180 feet! This 55-acre park overlooks the Missouri River, and features a dog park and walking trails. It features a Vietnam Memorial wall and a bolder with a mural. We also came across the John Douangdara Memorial Dog Park nearby. They are two separate memorials, but are next to each other so we are thinking they could be broken up into two media posts.

Stone Group Architects (SGA) is a proud supporter of our Veterans and Military Memorials. While we are strong supporters, SGA is independent from the memorials and does not claim responsibility of building or funding these memorials. SGA is a verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small business (SDVOSB) architectural firm, providing planning and design services to a variety of government clients.
