Camp Rapid, located in western South Dakota just outside the Black Hills National Forest, has a memorial that specifically honors the fallen South Dakota National Guard Soldiers. 117 South Dakota Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in various wars or conflicts such as the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operating Enduring Freedom are honored here. Their names are etched on the memorial walls beside a beautiful reflective metal globe of the world.
