Spanning over the Red River is the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge that connects Moorhead, MN, and Fargo, ND, on US Hwy 10. This bridge honors and remembers the fallen who served in the United States military. There are 10 pillars with the different branches of the military: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard as well as Veterans organizations including Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Veterans (AMVETS) and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).

The original structure was a truss swing built in the late 1800’s, with a steel stringer bridge built in 1937, which was replaced in 2003. The bridge was formally dedicated in 2009 to honor our Veterans. The bridge is still utilized by vehicles, and it includes a sidewalk that allows for foot and bicycle traffic as well.

In the summer of 2020, a new Statue of Liberty was placed near the bridge. The 650-pound statue, which replaces the former statue that was stolen in 2019, stands more than eight feet high and was paid by private donations.
