VETERANS MEMORIAL MONUMENT

On the Cape Coral Parkway is a towering 55-foot, spire-shaped monument with a fountain placed in the center. Weighing 20 tons, this massive monument was created in 1969 with four gold-anodized chevrons and the seals of the military on each side. At night, the white lights illuminate the area and for special holidays, the colors are changed to display special colors.

The monument has gone through extensive upgrades in 2000. Color-changing LED lights and a fountain were added, 16 medallions were replaced, and landscaping was restored.

After the community recognized this landmark needed upgrades, the people of the city, county and community made it happen in the continuum to honor the Veterans. There is a plaque on the monument that reads: “In recognition of the men and women of Cape Coral who have served, who are serving in the armed forces of the United States and in loving memory of those who will never return.”
