SOUTH DAKOTA VETERANS PARK
This memorial is alongside the Missouri River on the SD Hall of Fame campus, easily seen east of Interstate 90. The memorial honors all active, retired or past Veterans who served during wartime and peaceful times. On site is an actual U.S. Air Force plane, a WWII Pullman tank gun, Marine Corps jeep, Army and Marine trucks.
A large granite pillar stands in the center with the phrase “These Colors Don’t Run.” Alongside are six granite pedestals honoring the branches of service: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard. Each pedestal displays etchings of images pertinent to that service branch. Hundreds of engraved pavers displaying Veterans names are throughout the memorial. On site is a silhouette of a soldier kneeling to a white cross and several sitting benches for people to relax and pay tribute to our Veterans.
